NCGIS 2017 Recap

A big thanks to the North Carolina 2017 organizers for a great event. I appreciated the chance to meet so many mapping professionals (always a shock for a technologist such as myself).

As this was the 30th anniversary of NCGIS, the conference is held every two years, there was a bit of a celebration on tap. Featuring cake, and unexpectedly a fashion show of orphaned technology that was cutting edge over the last three decades. Starting out with push pin maps, and a pizza cutter shaped map measuring tool, fading through early GPS systems and ruggedized portable computers, and ending on a high note with google glass and some of our more recent misadventures.

GIS Geography Discussion Around “Envisioning a Sustainable Planet”

The Boundless team participated in the 3rd annual American Geographical Society (AGS) Fall Symposium (also known as Geography 2050), held November 17 & 18, 2016 at Columbia University in New York City. This year's theme was "Envisioning a Sustainable Planet". In conjunction with the symposium, Boundless was a proud supporter of the first annual AGS Geography Teacher Fellow Sponsorship, which empowered 51 AP Human Geography teachers to bring the power and knowledge of GIS geography to the future generations.

The whole team at Boundless had a great opportunity to participate in Geography Awareness Week, and in particular GIS Day 2016. Boundless employees visited colleges and universities around North America, sharing their passion for GIS, and celebrating all the great innovations the next generation of GIS students are developing today.
