GIS Training Updated for Boundless Suite 4.9

Boundless has been training people around the world on how to use Boundless Suite and GeoServer for over a decade. For the past three years, we have offered the most comprehensive Boundless Suite GIS training and GeoServer training courses anywhere, including the first GeoServer certification.

The pace of development moves fast, though, and we always strive to ensure that our users have the best and most up-to-date information throughout their GIS training.

To this end, the Boundless Training team has been hard at work updating the Boundless Suite: GeoServer I course to support Boundless Suite 4.9. This educational GIS course went through a complete overhaul from top to bottom, making sure that the content was aligned with the latest Boundless Suite release. This includes:

  • Over two hours of brand new video content, helping users navigate dozens of exercises to aid in comprehension
  • An updated and optimized virtual machine for easy installation of software in a risk-free environment
  • New details of the new installation and deployment requirements for Java 8 and Tomcat 8
  • New screenshots, new exercises, new challenges, and more

Boundless Suite: GeoServer Course Description

The Boundless Suite: GeoServer I course offers a thorough look at the core functionality of GeoServer, a core component of Boundless Suite. By the end of this course, students will be able to deploy, configure, and administer a GeoServer instance. The focus is on spatial basics, open web services such as the Web Map Service and Web Features Service, navigating the user interface, and optimization of both server and data.

Throughout the GeoServer course, students will complete exercises to reinforce what they learn in each module. Over two hours of videos accompany the exercise sections to guide students through the required steps.

Once the GeoServer course is completed, students are given access to the online GeoServer I certification exam. Passing the GeoServer I certification will demonstrate your qualification as an administrator of GeoServer.

The course is available online as a self-paced training course, meaning you can learn GIS and complete the course in your own time. Students will have access to Boundless experts via email during this time.

In addition to our self-paced e-learning, Boundless also offers onsite training.

The course is also available as a private onsite instructor-led class for organizations looking for in-classroom instruction of up to 10 students at a time. Boundless will come to you with one of their professional GIS instructors, designed to address the questions directly related to your organization’s understanding and deployment of GeoServer. Please contact us if you would like to talk more about instructor-led training.
