You Spoke, We Listened. Feedback From Our User Survey

You spoke, we listened…

As 2016 came to a close, the Boundless engineering team was busy getting a product development roadmap in place for the upcoming 2017 year.  As an active member of the open source community, it was imperative that the 2017 roadmap be guided by customer feedback.  After all, if our software doesn’t meet the needs of our end users then what’s the point of releasing software at all…

So we create a survey designed to better understand what both current and potential customers would like to see in the future Boundless ecosystem.  Questions ranged from what operating system users use the most, to what enhancements they would like to see in our specific software products.  The survey was a huge success, garnering over 350 responses in two weeks, and providing valuable insight into the Boundless customer base.

I am proud to say your voices were heard and we have updated our engineering roadmap to include much of the feedback you provided.  Key items that made it into the roadmap include:

  • Support for imagery within the entire ecosystem will be bolstered — including simplified methods for discovering and analyzing imagery inside of Boundless Desktop
  • More content! Common open datasets, basemaps, models, scripts and style files will be added to Boundless Connect
  • The process of sharing datasets with Boundless Exchange is easier inside Boundless Desktop
  • We are developing new ways to scale Boundless Suite in elastic and cloud environments

We will be enhancing our website to include a method for capturing user feedback year-round.  The feedback mechanism will also have an up-vote capability so users can help rank which ideas are most important to the global community.  Thank you to all who participated in our survey, your feedback is critical to the future of our software.
